North Devon Archeology Festival will start on 13 July

Interesting events expected at Arlington Court during archeology festival in North Devon. Martin Papworth, National Trust South West Archaeologist, said: “The North Devon Archaeological Festival is a fantastic opportunity for everyone, whatever their age, to spark the imagination and get involved with ancient things.”

According to news of Ella Sampson from Northdevontoday; The National Trust is set to support the Council for British Archeology (CBA) Festival of Archaeology, the UK's largest annual celebration of archaeology. This year's theme for the festival, which runs from 13 to 28 July, is Archeology and Society, and Arlington Court in North Devon will be a key exhibitor.

Visitors to Arlington Court can immerse themselves in the medieval history of the property. The National Trust, collaborating with a student from the University of Exeter, has uncovered new information about the medieval village that once stood on the site before the Chichester family took over nearly 600 years ago.

Throughout the festival, attendees can take part in a variety of events designed to bring medieval Arlington to life.

Martin Papworth, National Trust South West Archaeologist, said: “The festival is a great opportunity for everyone, whatever their age, to spark their imagination and get involved with ancient things. Thanks to archeology, we can touch the past and bring it to life. Thanks to the little things that become big with new meanings... A bump on the ground, a piece of pottery. Come to participating National Trust properties and be inspired by what you can enjoy.”

Other associated National Trust properties will offer a wide range of activities, from guided walks, artifact handling and talks, to hands-on experiences such as research and excavation.
